Creatures of Forever The Last Vampire Vol 6 Christopher Pike 9780671550523 Books

I read these when they came out in the late 90's and re-bought them after my Husband left them during a move a decade ago. I found when I searched 3 more new books had been added to the series. Awesome XD
This story has special meaning for me and were a favorite reread idk how many times now. Re-discovering them was fun given I have internet access now. If you haven't read this its worth reading just to get to the last 3 books. The writers skill has improved greatly since the first 6 books. As audiences pushed for greater detail in their literature.
Christopher Pike was ahead of his time, as the opening to Red Dice proves. I would describe it as matrix like, only The Matrix didn't come out for over a year after Red Dice was released. Only book series I own on hard copy. :)

Creatures of Forever The Last Vampire Vol 6 Christopher Pike 9780671550523 Books Reviews

First... let me say that words cannot discribe how the first 5 books in this series have touched my life. They were amazing and even after all these years I think of Sita and the trials she went through.
When I began this book, I was excited to see how they would end it, yet the farther I got into the book, the more outlandish and silly it got.
Lets examine the plot We first learn that Sita has eveolved as a vampire. She can now read minds and move objects with hers. A vampire with telekinisis! What? She is attacked by creatures with ray guns that can vaporize people by turning them into nothing but a cloud of smoke, like something out of a sci-fi flick. Cheesy much!
After this she goes onto a UFO and travels back in time to save the world from the abundance of negative energy, thus causing mankinds downfall. She spends a majority of the tale in the past, where she meets a Satan worshipping sorceror who trpas her in an invisible bubble with a flesh eating monster. Using her telekinisis she defeats him and returns to the spaceship.
I will say the book is good for checking out the last ten pages. It was actually really sad, and interesting to see how Mr.Pike wrapped up Sita's life.
All in all, I would reccomend only reading the last ten pages. The rest is so ridiculously stupid. This book is no where near as good as 1-5. If you ask me, this was an unnessesary installment to the series. I loved the way the first 5 parts were all tied together... yet this one stands alone and has nothing to do with the others. I just dont get how people can post that this is the best one in the series. Get some taste people.
The Last Vampire #6 Creatures of Forever, by Christopher Pike

In "Creatures of Forever," Pike's excellent The Last Vampire series goes a little wonky. More science fiction than vampire tale, Pike continues to mix New Age ideas with aliens and time travel.

Continuing with hints dropped in "Phantom (#4)" and "Evil Thirst (#5)," Pike concludes the story of Sita, the last vampire who has roamed the earth for 5,000 years. In "Creatures of Forever," she learns that in the 9th century actions of hers forever changed the future of humanity. Advanced beings from the future ask Sita if she will travel to the past and fix her wrong, so that humanity may be saved.

Without spoiling too much of the plot, this is the first time Pike focuses a novel on Sita's past. Instead of just flashbacks, the action takes place in the past and I wish it's something he would have done more - shared more fascinating stories of her life interspaced with famous historical events, or even obscure ones.

If you enjoyed Sita's story, you will be sad when this book ends. But at least Pike doesn't leave his fans hanging and does conclude Sita's story. I feel it is best to read the last three books in the series as one, instead of as separate novels, to get the full effect.

4/5.
Based on where the last book was trending I was worried that CREATURES OF FOREVER was really going to slide by the way of super cheese with aliens and whatnot but it really didn’t go there. Maybe a little bit but it all linked back to the image Paula had two books ago when she got pregnant and the running dream Alisa’s had about meeting Krishna at a spaceship under stars for six books running now. It served a specific purpose but then got out of its own way so the story could move forward.

Here Alisa goes back in time (at least her mind does) so she can attempt to fix a wrong that happened a thousand years prior. Except it was for an event that was so horrible for her she’d blocked it out and now she has to face it all again. Usually I have issues with time travel because there aren’t too many situations where, if you think about them for more than a second then they stop making sense. CREATURES OF FOREVER had a little bit of that and really, if I sit here and think about it the whole story starts to unwind, especially when the book’s ending comes into play but I liked what happened and I liked how it was handled. Alisa’s future person and past person blended and, for the most part, the past person was in control except for moments when present memories and future experiences came into play, which wasn’t often. In the context of the story it all worked out, I think.

The ending itself was a good one for the series and one that didn’t really surprise me. It brought everything right back around to the beginning and, like the original time-traveling mission, shows how altering little choices can have such an effect on the world. It worked and I was satisfied at the end.

At least I can re-read these books at my whim if I were so inclined just so I can keep getting this story. I mean really, it’s fantastic. It’s cheese but for the most part only by association. The writing itself speaks to a different market and a different time but I think the story itself transcends. It’s not goofy or campy but a deep-rooted story that’ll stick with you after you read it. I’m glad they re-released these books although I’m leery of how they were updated. One of the driving forces behind the books, for me at least, was how 90s they were. Cell phones would blow some of the plot lines, you know? So I’m hesitant to read those. But it makes my heart happy that they’re available again for a new generation.
