A very awesome book, about a military hero charged with murder and the lady who might could set him free in more ways then one. I was hoping the book would tell us who the real killer was and the author didn't disappoint me. This book has love lost, found, hurt, sad and a little humor. Learning to trust and learning to get over pain is always a hard issue.I doubt you will be disappointed in buying this book. The author did an outstanding job!

This book got me hooked from page 1. I love all the characters in the story and not just Jaime and Andrew. A salute to the author who was able to capture the reality of the life of a soldier and the battle scars that he has to carry all through his life even after service.
The story tells of a love story of a man and woman that develops through time. For Andrew, all those years of loneliness have been colored by memories of Jaime. He knows he feels something for the woman but is afraid to live his dreams because somehow he lost the ability to fit in in the society. Jaime on the other hand is a very courageous woman with a heart of gold. Never thinking ill of others and always assumed that even bad people have some goodness hidden within. How she fought for how she feels for Andrew and helped him as well to do the same was not just romantic but it brings out hope to every reader that there is indeed true love.
The support of Jaime's family is outstanding and the way they did not judge Andrew makes you wonder that if everybody act the same way, what a peaceful world we will have. The most unforgettable part of the book for me is when Andrew is having the dream when he and Adam were still young. It brought tears reading the conversations between two toddlers trying to keep each other safe. My heart went out to Adam. If there is one thing that I would change about the book, it is probably how it ended for Adam. I definitely would want him to be given the chance to change and heal.
I highly recommend this book. This is not just a romance book but it is full of family drama that for most part you will be able to relate to. The scenarios were too close to reality that you will not have a hard time getting yourself involved in the story. Thanks to the storytelling prowess of the author. I do look forward to reading other Evans Family book just to see how Jaime and Andrew continue on with their lives.
This is a good book with a very good storyline. The characters were well developed and drew me in, however, I feel there were too many details that did not contribute to the story, making it drag along. There was unnecessary information throughout that detracted from the couple.
Andrew - a man who was severely injured in war and after recovering and returning home he is wrongly charged with a murder he knows nothing about.
Jamie - an ambitious young woman who met Andrew the night before she left town with her fiance to begin their new life. She doesn't know about the crime committed, she has already left for Nevada. Is her brief encounter with Andrew the key to proving his innocence? After she divorces she returns home about 4 years after that fateful night and learns of the injustice that has been heaped upon Andrew.
What happens when a woman is determined to set things right? Will her testimony aid in reopening his case?
Despite the slow nature of this book I still recommend it. The story is touching and as we follow Andrew and his brother, we clearly see the affect of war, the travesties witnessed there, and the continued affect it has on their damaged lives. Add in an abusive childhood and it all spells heartache, desperation, scars that will never heal, and possibly a new love and family.
This is such a powerful story of young lives damaged by those who are supposed to protect and love them. Yet the courage to choose a different path and leave the past behind and look for a future once again inspires such hope, the struggles and pain were almost real as I read this story, oh how my heart ached for these two young men. Well written and captivating. Jamie's courage and support from her family breathed hope into Andrew. May we be the Jamie's in peoples lives.
This was a gift to me to read and I am glad I read it. It is a story of love between a family and love between another family . Two families one torn apart by war and other things and another family held together by love for each other. Jamie Evans has 4 brothers who are over protective of her but are they. She is getting married to a man they don't like, of course they never liked any of her boyfriends. Anyway she goes out with her two best friends one last time. An incident occurs that leaves a mark in Jamie's mind for some reason. And further the murder of Kit another lady at the bar that night and circumstances no one could predict Andrew Sheehan was convicted of murder. Years later after Jamies marriage fails and she is back home she sees a true story on tv regarding Kits murder and as she thinks about it she knows Andrew is not guilty. Ends up proving it too. Then the Evans family takes Andrew into their fold and before long Jamie and Andrew are beginning to fall in love. Her brothers believe in Andrew as well and the rough shell of Andrew is beginning to crack between his bad childhood, his PTSD, and the prison time for a murder he did not commit he had lost hope. But Jamie gave it back to him. Andrews brother Adam reenters the scene and over a period of time Andrew begins to fear something is really wrong with his brother but can't quite figure out how to help. It is a suspense story and as the reader I was not expecting the real problem with Adam. For some reason the story grabbed my attention and I couldn't put it down. Suspense, drama, and a beautiful love story. I cannot wait for the Evans Family Book 2.
